Ken Budka is…
Ken is a musician right down to the genetic level. With his mother on percussion and father on bass guitar, he grew up surrounded by music of all kinds.
Steeped in the sounds of his previous generation, Ken picked up the guitar amidst the alternative rock boom of the late 90’s. As a student he played in bands, sang in choirs, performed in musicals, gave lessons, wrote songs, and produced home recordings on which he played all of the instruments. Halfway through high school he took summer classes at Berklee College of Music and in his senior yearbook is a photo captioned “most marvelously musical”. With a music scholarship in hand Ken spent a gap year touring New England in bands and as a solo artist.
College music studies presented Ken with opportunities to join a community of musicians that would foster his creative energy. In 2010, after stints at UMass Amherst and Berklee College of Music, he graduated from UMass Lowell with a bachelor’s degree in Music Studies and Music Business.
Released in 2017, Ken’s debut album, “Time Flies” documented one of his most creative periods with 14 songs that showcase his songwriting and instrumental prowess. The album has been likened to the music of John Mayer, the Wallflowers and Tom Petty.
Ken continues his commitment to the craft as a teacher with a long line of happy clients, a collaborator with a growing stable of dazzling talent and a favorite entertainer at numerous local establishments. He regularly applies himself to new creative endeavors, and enjoys sharing his love of music.
